Bright Water Lake Committee
Boat Storage Rules
February 10, 2000
The Lake Committee met on January 15, 2000 and reviewed the issue of resident storage of personal watercraft in the common areas adjacent to Lake Matthews. The consensus was that this practice benefits the residents and should be permitted, but needs to be organized, enhanced and a formalized storage permit process implemented in order to conform with the Bright Water Covenants. The Covenants specify in Article 5, Section 4, that written permission must be obtained from the Association in order for residents to store items in the common areas. It was decided to use one storage area and to implement a boat registration and permit process. Following are the procedures and rules adopted by the Committee:
1. Any resident who would like to store their small boat in the common area near the lake must provide the Property Manager the following information about their boat:
- Owner Name
- Boat Type
- Boat Model or style, boat color
- Boat registration number (if known)
2. A Lake Committee Boat Storage Permit will be issued to the owner and a copy maintained by the Property Manager. Following are the rules for boat storage at lakeside:
* Boats can only be stored in the designated storage area located along the east side of Megan's Cove behind the tennis courts. The trees on the perimeter of this area will be marked with tape.
* Boats are be sufficiently secured to either a tree, post or the canoe racks to prevent unauthorized use. When using the canoe racks, care must be taken to ensure that boats are secured in such a manner that they can't be partially removed from the rack.
* Boats are not to be stored any closer than 15 feet from the Lake Matthews shoreline.
* When construction of the canoe racks are complete, all canoes are to be stored upside down on the racks.
* Neither The Bright Water Homeowners' Association nor the boat owners will not assume liability for any loss, damage or injury associated with resident boat storage in the common area.
* Boat storage is not permitted in the lakeshore common area along Water Shine Way or in the common crea adjacent to the Pond at the south end of Waterscape Trail.
